Note from the organizers of the Resource Recycling Conference
As many potential attendees to the Resource Recycling Conference may know, the host state for the conference in 2015, Indiana, recently passed a law that would allow state residents to discriminate against LGBT individuals. This is a serious issue and one that we are addressing in several ways.
We have joined the numerous companies, groups and events that are coming out in opposition to the law, including the Indianapolis-headquartered NCAA, Salesforce.com and the gaming convention GenCon, which annually draws almost 60,000 attendees. We have informed the host hotel of our displeasure and have also told the convention and visitors bureau (CVB) we will never produce another event in Indiana as long as this unfair law stands. We have sent a similar message to Indiana Governor Michael Pence. We have also made a donation to Freedom Indiana, a group which is helping lead the fight to fix the law.
We hope and expect that the Indiana Legislature will hear the rising voices from around the country and across the political spectrum to repeal or correct this unfair law and make it clear that discrimination based upon sexual orientation or gender identity is wrong and will not be tolerated in Indiana. We will update this note as the news from Indiana changes.
