2014 Recycling Innovators Forum

The Recycling Innovators Forum is a venue for inventors and innovative organizations to present their game-changing ideas on how to advance recycling. The Forum offers innovators throughout the recycling community the chance to compete for additional funding, marketing opportunities and industry support.

Co-located with the annual Resource Recycling Conference, the forum is designed to elevate the best and brightest ideas in recycling to the national stage and connect them with the companies, institutions and organizations that can help turn them into reality. Original ideas, inventions and processes presented at the Forum are “shovel-ready” and capable of producing a real and immediate positive impact on the recycling industry. 

Continuing the Dialogue: Policies that Drive Recycling of Post-Consumer Packaging and Printed Paper

Interested in growing recycling program performance and raising recycling rates for post-consumer packaging and printed paper? Join this forum called “Policies That Drive Recycling of Post-Consumer Packaging and Printed Paper”. Policies at the state and local level are a crucial component to successful recycling programs. Speakers from state and local governments will present information on their policies and will share, along with key industry representatives, their perspectives on the role of policy and best practice approaches for future policy development.

This forum is for: 
•    Corporations: If EPR is on your radar, join this discussion. 
•    State and local recycling and solid waste officials: Benefit from the discussion so you can assess and make informed recommendations for your state and/or community.
•    Corporate recycling industry: Benefit from discussion so you can be prepared and informed on what’s possibly ahead for your customers.

GRRN Zero Waste Training

Seeking a very thorough and up-to-date introduction to Zero Waste from hands-on experts? Here is your chance. This class will demonstrate how Zero Waste can be a key part of the community and business sustainability plans, help reduce greenhouse gases and global cooling and create jobs.  Businesses are leading the way for Zero Waste and many diverting over 90% of their discard from landfill and incineration. Zero Waste Communities have adopted Zero Waste goals and plans to implement those goals. Examples will be presented from around North America and the globe. By attending the session, participants will learn: Connection between Zero Waste and greenhouse gases; Job potential from Zero Waste; and Benefits to communities and businesses from pursuing Zero Waste.  GRRN will provide a Certificate of Completion to those who take a test at the end of the class.  This is optional and will incur an additional fee of just $25.

National Recycling Coalition (NRC) Annual Members Meeting

The annual members meeting of the National Recycling Coalition will feature an address from outgoing President Mark Lichtenstein, the presentation of awards and scholarships, and updated on NRC’s programs and projects. After closing nominations for the Board of Directors, a brief candidate’s forum will precede the official opening of elections.
